Sleeping Like A Baby

I had to capture this moment on camera.  Madilynn holding her dolly, pulling her legs underneath her (for the first time!), napping soundly.  I could watch her sleep for hours...

Christmas Treat???

One amazing thing about Reagan is her memory.  At only 2 1/2 it is really mind blowing the details she can remember.  One of her fondest memories so far is Halloween.  She loves talking about her ladybug costume.  She also loves ringing doorbells because it reminds her of trick-or-treating.  But the absolutely hilarious thing is that when she rings the doorbell, instead of yelling "Trick or Treat!", she yells, "Christmas treat!!!"  There is just no talking that girl into believing that she only has the phrase half right!  In fact, yesterday when she rang the doorbell, I tried to explain to her yet again what the right phrase should be.  Her response?  "No, Mommy.  It's Christmas treat, like Santa Claus."  Duh, Mommy.

Flashback: Reagan's Baptism

Reagan was baptized on December 27, 2008, just 20 days after she was born.  At just 16 days old, we traveled to Ohio to introduce Reagan to my family, to spend Christmas there, and then have her baptized.  To say the least, as brand new parents, we were terrified of making the long car trip with her.  But we survived, and the trip was well worth it.  Like her sister, Reagan was baptized at Sts. Cyril and Methodius Church, wore the same gown that has been passed down in my family, and enjoyed a wonderful celebration afterwards at Grandma Patty's house.

Madilynn's Baptism

On Saturday, July 9, 2011 Madilynn Elizabeth was baptized at Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church.  The baptism was the main reason for our trip to Ohio, so that all of our family and friends in Ohio could witness this wonderful celebration.  Madilynn was baptized at the same church Trey and I were married, as well as the same church where Reagan was baptized.  Like her big sister, Madilynn wore the gown that was purchased by my Aunt Suzanne for my cousin Melissa's baptism.  My brother and I wore this gown as well, so it is a very important garment.  Christopher and Sarah are godparents to both girls.

After the ceremony, we had almost 30 people over to Grandma Patty's house for a party.  It was so much fun!  There was so much good food and desserts.  All of the kids loved playing with one another.  We were also lucky that Katherine, Pete, and Tiffany were home so we were able to meet their new, adorable son, Brady James.  Overall, everyone had a great time!  We are truly blessed.

Lions and Tigers and Bears...Oh My!

Chris and Julia met Grandma Patty, Trey, Reagan, Madilynn, and me at the Akron Zoo.  It was the girls first trip to a zoo, and Reagan was super excited!  The zoo was just the right size for little ones.  We saw all of the animals, ate lunch, played a little, and explored the gift shop.  It was a fun morning for everyone!

Happy 4th of July!

We spent the morning on the 4th at outlets in Grove City.  In the afternoon we headed to Sharon and Bob's house for the annual picnic.  We all had a great time!  As usual, the food was wonderful.  Reagan loved playing on the neighbor's swing set with her cousins.  The only part she did not like was the sound of fireworks since she hates loud noises.  But overall, it was a wonderful 4th of July (and Madilynn's first!).

July 2011 Trip to Ohio!

We spent 8 wonderful days in Ohio this summer, July 2-10.  Everyday was filled with some kind of fun activity.  It just flew by!  It was great because Trey was able to join us for the entire trip this time.

Itinerary:

July 2: Arrive in Ohio
July 3:  Christopher's 2nd birthday party at the Scheiber's house
July 4:  Happy 4th of July!  Madilynn's first 4th of July party celebrated at Bob and Sharon Darno's house.  We also spent the morning shopping at the Grove City Outlets.
July 5:  Breakfast at Perkins, a shopping spree at the Dollar Tree, and playing at the house while my mom was at work.
July 6:  A lunch date with Trey at Michael Simon's B Spot Restaurant
July 7:  Akron Zoo in the morning and a Scrapper's baseball game in the evening
July 8: Preparing for Madilynn's Baptism
July 9:  Madilynn's Baptism and a party afterward
July 10:  Time to return to Virginia

I will be including lots of details and pictures about our amazing time in the next few posts.

Two Funny Tidbits

Tidbit #1:  Preparing for our trip to Ohio, Trey and I were outside packing the car.  Madilynn was in her pack and play, and Reagan was playing/watching tv in the house.  I heard Madilynn starting to cry, so I went into the house.  What did I see?  Reagan had gotten a pillow from the couch and put it on the floor next to the pack and play.   She had stepped on the pillow so that she could see her sister , and she was saying, "It's ok Madilynn, I'm here.  I'm here, Madilynn, it's ok."  It was the sweetest thing I had ever seen.  I LOVE watching my girls together.

Tidbit #2:  The day after we returned from Ohio, my mom was talking to Reagan on the phone.  My mom asked where Daddy was and Reagan responded, "He's at show and tell."  For a moment I was confused, but then it dawned on me.  "No, honey," I said.  "He's not at show and tell, he's staying at a hotel."  So funny!
